DTG inhibits organic cation transporter 2 on the proximal tubule cells of the kidney that uptakes substrates like creatinine from the blood. Thus, one of the side effects of DTG is the increase of serum creatinine levels and the consequential reduction of kidney function that occurs in the first weeks of treatment and is nonprogressive. Primary objective was virologic control at 48 weeks from the switch. Secondary objective was to assess the decrease in renal function calculated with CDK-EPI (2021) formula. Baseline characteristics are described as median values ± interquartile range (IQR) or as simple frequencies and percentages (see table 1). Changes from baseline of continuous variables were assessed by the paired samples Wilcoxon test. All tests were two-sided and p-values <0.05 were considered statistically significant.
