Wiercińska-Drapało Medical University of Warsaw, Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases and Hepatology, Warsaw, Poland, Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Warsaw, Poland General data Abstract category: Antiretroviral therapy – observational studies Abstract body Purpose: The aim of the study was the analysis of lipid profile among PLWH at the point of HIV diagnosis and the observation of changes in lipid parameters during 1 year of ART. Method: Adult newly diagnosed PLWH who started ART, continued uninterruptedly during 1-year observation and achieved complete viral suppression were analyzed. Nobody was receiving lipid-lowering therapy. CD4 cell count, CD4:CD8 ratio, HIV-1 viral load and lipid profile were examined twice – at the point of HIV diagnosis and after 12 months of ART. Results: The study included n=70 PLWH. Significant increase in total, HDL and LDL cholesterol and decrease in triglyceride concentration after 1 year of ART was observed (Table 1). Table 1. No significant differences in lipid profile after 1 year were observed according to gender and ART scheme, except for greater increase in LDL cholesterol in people receiving elvitegravir boosted with cobicystat than bictegravir (Figure 1). Conclusions: Healthcare providers should pay attention to lipid profile in ART-naïve patients, especially with baseline CD4 cell count <200/µl. Particular care is suggested in women. Lipid parameters should be precisely and regularly assessed in all PLWH undergoing ART, especially in patients receiving older generation antiretroviral agents. General conditions 1.
