7 IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2019 24—30 August 2019 | Athens, Greece Welcome from the IFLA President This is necessary if we are to fulfil our mission. Not only to keep up with change, but to lead it, and to help our users succeed. It is our duty. You can see all of this in our new IFLA Strategy. In Athens, we will have an exceptional time, and you will find out more about this IFLA transformation process within a solid Libraries Global Vision and about delivering IFLA’s 2019-2024 new strategy during our Congress. So, I am very proud and honoured to lead IFLA together with the IFLA Secretary General, the President-elect and the members of IFLA Governing Board in this great time of IFLA transformation. Together, we will form the basis for an inclusive and participatory new way of working and growing and making the changes which the global library field needs. IFLA Conference is also about networking and meeting colleagues, and of course, about making friends, while we enjoy the great monuments of Athens, its hospitality, good weather, and tasteful Mediterranean cuisine. I am very much looking forward to seeing you all in wonderful Athens, at the opening session at the Megaron and enjoying the Cultural Evening in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre.
